I just ordered a computer myself actually.
The 8800GTX is certainly a nice card - I got a Foxconn overclocked one myself.
However, I would say go with the Core 2 Duo. My brother has an E6600 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo Conroe with a Zalman 9500 cooling system runing at 2.997Ghz with 1333mhz FSB with rock solid stability. He has the ASUS P5N32 E MotherBoard. As simple Bios flash is all you need to do. We are doing the exact same thing to my computer.
The other option is just to run the Core 2 at normal speeds and not have to worry about overclocking. It should still run plenty fast.
For the Ram, I'm not exactly sure which one you got, buck make sure its CAS latency 4. G.Skill offers CAS latency 4 ram for just $130. It is dual channel 2x1Gb and its great quality.
